Case Study #8 - University of Southern Mississippi Panda Express

Description
Located at a Historic 3 story Building on USM’s Campus. We converted an American Fare concept to a Panda Express
Design/Built integrated the Panda Express specs and guidelines
Coordinated with the University and Mississippi Department of Archives and History to get approval of intended work
Demolition & Construction
Removed existing equipment, Large Booth Seating and Signage
Removed existing front service counter and millwork
Removed section of flooring to incorporated dumbwaiter into space
Framed a 1hr fire rated shaft from the basemen to the 2nd floor
Patch existing ceiling grid and tile
Tile/Flooring
Patched and repaired quarry tile
Patched and repaired existing tile on main floor with new counter layout
Installed decorative wall tile on new front counter
Install new subway tile on walls behind front counter
Grinded the existing concrete flooring and applied sealant for a new look
Menu Boards
Suspended a menu board back drop, installed 3 menu boards
Casework
Supplied custom stainless-steel cabinet located behind the front counter
Installed quartz countertop to reflect the Panda Express spec
Plumbing
Disconnect, cap off unused plumbing, re route existing line for new layout and install new plumbing for relocated equipment
Saw cut and trenched for new water/sanitary lines
Test all plumbing upon completion
Electrical
Disconnect and remove existing circuitry
Run new circuits for new equipment and general outlets
Re-lamp existing lighting in dining area to brighten the space
Fire Protection
Repaired multiple sprinkler heads to meet code
Installed a smoke detector located in the dumbwaiter shaft
Installation
Unload and Install equipment provided by Panda Express
Install of vertical sneeze guard glass
Signage
Installed new pole banners in student walkways
Installed a custom exterior Panda sign (special provisions needed due to historical aspect)
